GSM system in mobile

Saturday, July 31, 2010 sdnjang

GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications: originally from Groupe Spécial Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile telephony systems in the world. The GSM Association, its promoting industry trade organization of mobile phone carriers and manufacturers, estimates that 80% of the global mobile market uses the standard.[1] GSM is used by over 4.3 billion people across more than 212 countries and territories.[2][3] Its ubiquity enables international roaming arrangements between mobile phone operators, providing subscribers the use of their phones in many parts of the world. GSM differs from its predecessor technologies in that both signaling and speech channels are digital, and thus GSM is considered a second generation (2G) mobile phone system. This also facilitates the wide-spread implementation of data communication applications into the system.
The ubiquity of implementation of the GSM standard has been an advantage to both consumers, who may benefit from the ability to roam and switch carriers without replacing phones, and also to network operators, who can choose equipment from many GSM equipment vendors.[4] GSM also pioneered low-cost implementation of the short message service (SMS), also called text messaging, which has since been supported on other mobile phone standards as well. The standard includes a worldwide emergency telephone number feature (112).[5]
Newer versions of the standard were backward-compatible with the original GSM system. For example, Release '97 of the standard added packet data capabilities by means of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). Release '99 introduced higher speed data transmission using Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE).

10 Steps For Hiring The Best Every Time

Thursday, July 29, 2010 sdnjang

Over the past 30+ years I've been involved in thousands of searches, worked with hundreds of different hiring managers, trained 3,000 to 4,000 recruiters, and worked closely with dozens of major companies. Following are the common threads among the best techniques, processes, and tools I've seen and used. Collectively, they add up to a business process for hiring top people. While Performance-based Hiring provides a simplified high-level summary of these, it's the details and execution that will ultimately determine success.

As you review these ten steps, evaluate your company's hiring processes to see where you stand. Although the steps by themselves aren't overly complex, getting everyone to do them all for every job represents the difference between consistent success and maintaining the status quo.

Underlying this hiring process is the idea that hiring a top person requires a company to consistently reinforce the message that it's offering career opportunities, not just jobs. At every step, including every ad, interview, and conversation, this must be clearly communicated. You'll clearly see this theme in the steps below, as well as the idea that consumer marketing, the latest Web 2.0 advertising techniques, and consultative selling are essential tools to get this message out.

10 Steps for Hiring the Best People Every Time

1. Offer WOW! jobs. Traditional job descriptions listing skills, qualifications, and experience are not marketing tools, nor are they predictors of job success. These lists must be diminished in importance. In their place job descriptions must emphasize what the person will do, learn, and become. As part of this, clearly describe the impact the person can make. From a marketing standpoint eliminate internal, non-descriptive titles. "Not-for-Profit CEO – Back to the Future" was a title we used to find the head of a major charity. In the ad we described the five-year impact the person would have on the inner city. For bank tellers to fill a mid-day shift we added the tagline "Are You a Desperate Housewife?"

2. Get everyone on the hiring team to agree to real job needs. Before you can offer WOW! jobs you need to get the hiring manager to clearly describe what the person will be doing and what needs to be accomplished on the job. By forcing the hiring manager to convert skills and qualifications into the real performance objectives of the job, you increase both ownership and understanding. Start by asking the hiring manager how he/she will respond to a candidate who asks "What am I going to be doing on this job and how will my performance by measured?" Top people ask this question every time, so everyone on the hiring team, including the recruiter, must understand the performance objectives of the real job. When you don't know real job needs, the interviewing process is less accurate, everyone substitutes their own assessment criteria, and top candidates get confused and turned off.

3. Make it about careers, not compensation. The ad copy must clearly emphasize the challenges in the job, the impact the person can make on the company, and some of the growth opportunities. For example, "Help us launch a new Blue Tooth headset line" is far more compelling than, "Must have five years of RF product marketing experience." When recruiters first contact candidates – whether they're active or passive – the emphasis must clearly be on influencing the candidate to evaluate your opportunities as career moves, not just as another job for more money or one closer to home. This will help ease the negotiating process and minimize the threat of counter-offers and competitive offers.

4. Implement an "early bird" sourcing strategy. At a basic level it's essential to write compelling job ads that are easily found. This requires complete knowledge of search engine marketing techniques to position ads high in any type of search, whether it's Google, an aggregator, or on job boards. From a more advanced perspective, it's important to recognize that top performers don't enter the job-hunting market ready to hunt and peck for a job that matches their skills and experience. Instead, they tip-toe into the market, first contacting former associates and doing some top-down industry and company research. If this is fruitless they'll then expand their search efforts through aggressive networking and Googling for jobs. Sourcing programs need to target these early entrants by positioning ads in the right places and proactively expanding employee referral programs to ensure that the best people contact your employees first.

5. Allow candidates to "just look" rather than buy. Most company hiring processes and career websites are designed based on the premise that candidates are ready to apply for a specific job. This is a fundamentally flawed concept. The best people, especially the early entrants, are just looking and comparing options. To accommodate these people, recruiters must not push the process too fast, and managers must be willing to talk or meet with candidates on an exploratory basis. Career websites need to allow candidates to chat with a recruiter in real time and look at groups of jobs, rather than specific requisitions. The focus of all of this must be based on the idea that while early entrants start by just looking, they are willing to move forward in a logical sequence as long as they obtain the proper information at each step. Ensuring they get the proper information is key to managing this pipeline of top performers.

6. Use consultative selling techniques to develop a candidate/recruiter partnership. Changing jobs is a big deal, and in today's high-pressure work environment, time is a precious commodity. Recruiters need to instantly engage, not take "No" for an answer, develop relationships, uncover the candidate's pressing career issues, obtain referrals, and offer career solutions. Too many recruiters ask the wrong questions, lack understanding of real job needs, come across as superficial, and dial for dollars to make their numbers. In a highly mobile and extensively competitive market, recruiters will take on an increasingly important role. Just like in sales, this requires extensive training, a complete understanding of the market, and a true partnership with their hiring leaders.

7. Make the interview your secret weapon. Most managers and executives think the primary purpose of the interview is to assess candidate competency. This is comparable to someone in sales thinking that the discovery process is used to determine if a client is qualified to own the product, instead of determining the client's primary needs. When the interview is viewed from this perspective, you realize that its real purpose is to look for voids and gaps in the candidate's background with the expectation that your job will fulfill them. For example, if the candidate hasn't managed as large a team, or handled a comparable project, or had the exposure your job provides, these voids become learning opportunities and more important than compensation as reasons to accept your position. Obviously, if the gaps are too big, the candidate is unqualified for the job, and if the gaps aren't sufficient, the job isn't a big enough move. In the process of conducting the interview with this focus, assessment accuracy will increase. A major side benefit: you'll have all of the information you need to defend the candidate from other interviewers who make superficial decisions.

8. Implement a multi-factor evidence-based assessment process. The idea of using a yes/no voting process to make the hiring decision is superficial, time-consuming, and prone to errors. While the interview is used to gather information, if not organized properly, the information gathered is redundant, narrow, and biased. Worse, since most managers don't consciously seek out non-confirming information, nor do they assess competency against real job needs, adding up the yes/no votes is comparable to making important investment decisions based on information in the marketing brochure. Assessment accuracy can increase when members of the hiring team understand real job needs and narrow their assessment to just a few core factors. The key here is to assess a candidate's competency and motivation to do the work required. A formal debriefing session allows each interviewer to share facts, details, and concrete information, rather than relying on feelings, intuition, or technical competency to make the hiring decision. (Here's a complete article on using our 10-Factor Candidate Assessment Scorecard to establish this type of evidence-based assessment process.)

9. Use a multi-factor decision tool to negotiate the offer, fight off the competition, and prevent counter-offers. Recruiting is not something done at the end of the interview, it starts with first contact. While it's important for companies to judge candidates across multiple factors, it's equally important for candidates to evaluate different job opportunities across multiple factors as well. Some of these include learning, growth opportunities, compensation, quality of the hiring manager and the team, job match, visibility, cultural fit, and work/life balance. This can be formalized by sending the candidate a multi-factor decision form comparing your job with all others he/she is considering, including his/her current position. Suggest that during the interviewing process, the candidate get specific information on each of these factors before reaching a final decision. As long as your situation represents a positive long-term career move, your job will often win out without compensation being the primary reason. While you'll need to persist in ensuring your candidate obtains the proper information, this is how you recruit candidates in today's highly competitive and highly mobile environment – with knowledge and insight, not heavy-handedness.

10. Link the hiring process with your company's performance management system. The use of job descriptions defining the real performance objectives offers a natural bridge to the performance management process used by most companies. This way, candidates are assessed against real job needs and they're accepting offers based on these same real job needs. This increases understanding and interest by clarifying job expectations every step of the way. This can be reinforced by establishing a formal pre-start (the time between offer acceptance and the start date) and on-boarding program where the new employee and the hiring manager clarify, agree on, and prioritize the performance objectives. Performance can then be closely tracked and measured at regular intervals during the first 3-6 months. This also offers a means to measure candidate quality using the same 10-Factor Candidate Assessment Scorecard used to initially assess the candidate. Retention and job satisfaction are sure to increase when hiring is based on matching real job needs with the candidate's abilities and motivating needs.

The problem with too many HR and recruiting leaders is that they view the hiring and recruiting process as a series of independent steps. Without the proper links, the end-to-end process is likely to fall apart. For example, combining a great sourcing program with a "make the candidate apply" philosophy, coupled with a clinical behavioral interview, is sure to yield very few top performers, even though many entered the pipeline.

The key to making the end-to-end process work is to step back and understand the unique needs of top performers. From this high-level strategic perspective the design of each step is fundamentally altered. This high-level view also allows the integration between the steps to be designed into the process at the front end rather than as an after-thought. While converting the hiring process into a scalable business process is no easy task, it's not nearly as hard as implementing other major companywide business initiatives. If hiring the best is a company's number one strategic objective, then there should be none more important, either.

How To Create A Successfyl Blog

sdnjang

What is a blog? A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. A typical blog combines text, imagcommentaryes, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. And FYI, since 2007, search engine have been tracking more than 112 million blogs

Blogs comes in very different forms. Personal is an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual. Corporate is to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing. Genre usually will focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, travel blogs, house blogs etc... Device is a blog that can also be defined by which type of device is used to compose it. A blog written by a mobile device like a mobile phone or PDA could be called a moblog.

Setting up a blog can be pretty easy. In some cases it could take about an hour. If you use a more complicated blogs site where you start from scratch, it will take you 4-8 hours to set it up. The maintenance is continuous if you want your visitors to keep coming back. If there is no new content, your customers will stop coming once they keep seeing the same information every week. You can a set up a blog for free if you use a site like blogger.com or wordpress.com. These sites will place advertisements on your blog. That is how they make their money. UNfortunately it does not look as professional.

You can also use wordpress.org. This site you will have to buy a domain name which you can get for less than $10 at godaddy.com and get a hosting service. Godaddy offers hosting service as well but if you are new to all this technical stuff, I would recommend using hostgator.com. Hostgator offers great tutorials from A to Z on to get your own blog set-up.

Use the following basic strategies on your blog. The idea of a blog is not only to sell your business, product or service. It should only be about 20% of what you share. Your blog should be about the visitor which means how much value you are providing your visitor to entice them to come back over and over. Can they get to know you, the real you? Are you offering value for free or do they have to buy everything from you? The idea is for you to offer something for free without any expectation from that person. Example: If you are a Starbuck customer you will know what I am talking about. My wife has one of those membership cards with Startbucks. Every now and again they send her a free drink coupon. Now on the coupon, it does not say buy one get one free, or get a free drink up to $5.00 value. It says a free drink, period so she gets this huge drink that is worth like $8. Starbuck gets it. They are building a relationship with my wife that will go beyond any expectation. Now every time my wife wants a cup of coffee, she goes to Starbucks because they take care of her. They don't just try to get her in to buy a drink.

I am not insunuating that you should give the farm for free but you can give is your knowledge for free. Providing advice, personal experience etc. will build a loyalty between the customer and you like you could not believe. It is a process but what else do you have to do. Sell yourself and you will be rewarded a 1000 times at the end. Like one of my mentor (John Jackson) says to us every day, "Do something for somebody else today knowing fully they can never repay you". Build your blog with this philosophy in mind and you will experience a ton of success.
Other tips to keep in mind:
1. Never plagiarize.
2. Be yourself.
3. Avoid Clichés.
4. Always provide fresh content.
5. Not all of your posts need to be 100% grammatically polished or correct. Sometimes your post is just about getting your quick thoughts down.
6. When sharing your opinions, consider framing your thoughts in such a way where you acknowledge that you COULD be wrong.
7. Check out other blogs. Examine other blogger's styles and discover what you like and what you don't like.
8. Post your blog post on as many social Medias as you can. Use onlywire.com pluggin to help you as well.

One of the most popular method of internet marketing is having your own blog. No matter if you are new or experienced, a blog is a great tool to let everyone know not only what you do but more importantly who you are and what kind of person you are. Be very visual with your blog. Use pictures and videos as much as you can. If you follow these steps on how to create your blog for my business, your business will increase drastically and quickly. OK, enough reading and go get started!

Apple Iphones - Smartphone At Hugely Reduced Prices

Sunday, July 25, 2010 sdnjang

To Apple’s credit, it can be safely said that they have taken mobile phone technology to a different level altogether with is Apple iPhones. The Apple iPhones are not merely mobile phone devices, mind you, The iPhones are actually coming together of the mobile phone, mobile internet, and camera. This is true of all the Apple iPhones so far. Be it the original Apple iPhone, the Apple iPhone 3G,, the more recent,Apple iPhone 3G or launched only yesterday, the futuristic Apple iPhone 4G.

While there is no argument against the technical finesse of thee Apple iPhone, user the world over complain of the rather exhorbitant costs.

After all, who would not love to buy the Apple iPhone., But how many can realistically speaking. With the Apple iPhones selling at well over £ 500, there is not much that any one of us potential user can do but wring our hands in desperation.

This is where the network carriers in the United Kingdom – O2, Orange, 3 Mobile, T-Mobile, Talk Mobile, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile – have all come to the rescue by bringing out some nice real value for money for the much loved Apple iPhones.

Now, most of the Apple iPhones may not be, still available for free, on any of the carrier deals. But still are now more affordable. Thus, SIM free most of the Apple iPhone 3G is now available for amounts that is well below the previously required £ 599, etc. Now, they have come down to about £ 500 and, in some cases, to even £ 400.

That is not all, Something called the tethering concept is possible with the Apple iPhone 4G. This effectively means that the Apple iPhones now come under daily, weekly and monthly schemes. Therefore, you can use the Apple iPhone 4 16GB for an hour and pay around £ 20. The rates increase and differ slightly with whether we are talking about the Apple iPhone 4G 32 GB or the Apple iPhone 4G 62 GB

Cryptography In Daily Life

sdnjang

Generally cryptography is the technique to transform readable data to unreadable data. We deal with it every single day of our life. Many important areas of science use cryptography, but everyone of us has been using it for years, yet didn’t realize what he/she was doing. One can write and research endlessly when it comes to cryptography, therefor this is just a little peak in the areas where it is applied. Now let’s see where cryptography is used!

I don’t get it, what does this really mean?

Think of the ordinary people. We all have secrets, we have a lot of them, and some of them are so precious that we would rather die then tell something about it. Isn’t it? Another very simple example arises from family lives. A family can be considered like a small community consisting of 2-10 members, differing from country to country and depending on what you call “family”. You go somewhere with your family. You need to ask your father when you are going to your cabana which stands in a very beautiful place, and you don’t want others to find out you’re going there. You just ask your old man: “When do we go there?” And that’s it. You just used cryptography! Why? Only because others who heard what you’ve just said don’t know what you’re talking about.

The role of cryptography in our lives

This technique is so important, that we couldn’t do a lot of things without it. Why so? Well let me explain to you. I will now take some of the most important areas of cryptography usage.

Emails

We live in a modern world. We must deliver emails, either for business, to friends, companies, famous people whose address we have. It doesn’t matter. We send emails all the time. People deliver around 210 billion emails daily !
When you deliver an email, it has to get trough the internet - a giant network consisting of a lot of computers most of which are unprotected and attackable. A lot of people like to steal data from others, sometimes only for fun, but danger comes when it’s about something else. Just think a minute of how big the Internet is. The first three countries in the highest number of internet users list are:

1.China (253.000.000 users)
2.USA (220.141.969 users)
3.Japan (94.000.000 users)

That’s a lot! There are around 6,720 billion people on earth. And only the first three countries have 0,567 billion Internet users. That is around 8,43%. Now imagine what is out there.

How do emails get protected while they are being sent? All connections between routers and routers themselves need to be secured. That is done by using data encryption. Generally there would be two methods for this security.

The first one is to use PGP (Pretty Good Privacy). This is both the name of a computer program and the protocol itself. But what is pgp protocol in fact? It is a method to secure emails, a standard in cryptographically secure emails. Basically it is used with MIME Security. Before encrypting with pgp, message body and headers should be in MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) canonical format. “multipart/encrypted” denotes encrypted pgp data and must contain the following parameter:

protocol=”application/pgp-encrypted”

The multipart/encrypted consists of two parts. The first part is a MIME body with “application/pgp-encrypted” content type and contains the control information. Also the message body must contain the following line:

Version: 1

Complete information for decrypting is contained by the pgp packed format. The second part is also a MIME body, with a more simple structure. It contains the encrypted data itself and it is labeled with an “application/octet–stream” content type.

The second method is a tricky one. Sender owns a secure website, recipient has a username and password, and recipient can read the message after logging into the website.

However ISPs can encrypt communication between servers using TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SASL (Simple Authentication and Security Layer). E-mail servers use this kind of protection between each other for example, these servers need their communication protected so no unintended server can get a copy of any e-mail going through these e-mail servers.

TLS is also used in many different setups. TLS is also used with POP3, IMAP, and ACAP. If HTTP is protected by TLS, it provides more security then simple HTTP. A lot of existing client and server products support TLS, but many of them provide no support. Let’s check on more details about TLS/SSL.

TLS and SSL

TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are almost the same, actually TLS is the successor of SSL; there are only slight differences between them. They are used for: instant messages, emails, browsing, internet faxing. Well, two of the above mentioned are used by everyone. Emails and browsing the Internet: things you do almost everyday. TLS plays an important role on the internet, especially in communications privacy and endpoint authentication. HTTP, FTP, SMTP, NNTP, XMPP are all protocols with TLS protection. TLS can add security to any protocol which uses a reliable connection (like TCP - Transmission Control Protocol). TLS is most commonly used with HTTP to create HTTPS. We also need to mention that TLS is growing in SMTP lately. In the case of VPN, TLS is used to tunnel an entire network stack. VPN will be discussed in its details later. Let’s just think about HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

There are around 63 billion websites all over the world, and around 1 trillion unique URLs!

Most of them have a lot of visitors every day. Imagine how important servers are, how important their security is. What would happen if an ordinary hacker could break into any server? Disaster! He would then break another and another and another… Data would be stolen every single minute; Internet wouldn’t have any safe zone. You would be afraid to send emails, to post anything to a blog/forum. It’s hard to understand what would happen without security, most of which is done by cryptography.

A lot of us also use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to transfer data between two computers. It works like you would open Windows Explorer to view files and folders. The only difference is that on an FTP connection you can also download files, not just view or browse them. There are a lot of FTP servers and clients available on the Internet. These tools can ease your work, you can organize your downloads if you use the client side, or you can organize what others can download if you use the server side. Seems like an easy way to transfer files from your friends, from your family members, to your family members, isn’t it? FTP even lets you to use usernames and passwords for your protection. All of the above mentioned is clear and nice said, but even this way FTP is vulnerable! How so? Regarding its architecture, FTP is built in a way which provides ability for users on the same network as the transfer is being processed to sniff data including: files, usernames, and passwords. There is no built-in security or data encryption. A well known solution for this security problem is to use either SFTP or FTPS. Be careful! It’s confusing. SFTP and FTPS are two very differently working file transfer protocols, they are not the same. SFPT is SSH (Secure Shell) File Transfer Protocol. SSH also uses public-key cryptography, which works like this: you have a text to encrypt, and you have a public key and a private key. Text gets encrypted with the public key, but only who knows the private key can decrypt it. With its architecture - the usage of public-key cryptography - SSH is basically used to log in to a machine and execute commands, but can also transfer files (trough SFTP or SCP), and also supports tunneling and port forwarding. FTPS is commonly known as FTP/SSL. FTPS uses SSL/TLS below standard FTP to encrypt the control and/or data channels.

VPN

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is like a virtual computer network. Why so? Think about the Internet. How does it work? It consists of a lot of computers and servers linked to each other. And how do connections exist and work? They exist physically, they are linked with wires. Basically the user has an ISP (Internet Service Provider) trough which it gains access to the Internet. Now, what’s the difference between Internet network linking and Virtual Private Network linking? VPN uses virtual circuits or open connections to have the network together.

All nice, but VPN needs security to be efficient and used. Well, it has a special security system. I’ll reflect on VPN security issues. Authentication is required before VPN connection. If you are a known and trusted user, you may have access to resources inaccessible to other users. More interesting is that servers may also need to authenticate themselves to join the Virtual Private Network. Strange mechanism, users are familiar with being required to authenticate themselves on a website or server…but a server also needs authentication? Yes, it does! There are various authentication mechanisms used in VPNs. Some of these mechanisms are included in firewalls, access gateways and other devices. A VPN authentication mechanism uses: passwords, biometrics or cryptographic methods which may be combined with other authentication mechanisms.

Secure VPNs are designed to provide necessary privacy for its users. The essence of this consists in cryptographic tunneling protocols. Secure Virtual Private Network ensures message integrity, confidentiality and sender authentication.

We can see how important cryptography is in our lives. These were rather technical details of cryptography usage. But let’s take some other examples too, not so technical!

Abbreviations. You may be smart, intelligent, but you’re lost if someone uses an abbreviation and you don’t know where it comes from and what it means. Assume you are on a holiday and hear someone saying: “I got that cool stuff from a good FTP server”. You don’t know what this is about if you aren’t familiar with File Transfer Protocol, and don’t know what it means and where it is used.

Think of the old days, the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. People had no mobile phones, no internet, and no e-mail sending opportunity. If they needed to say something to someone who was far away from them, and they didn’t want to use telephones…what could they do other then visiting that person or those persons? They used the Morse code. This is familiar to us, but many of us only know what it means, not how to understand or produce Morse code itself. There were two common solutions to produce Morse code. One of it worked only for short distances generally. It was something like you pick up an object and hit another object to produce noise; that noise was the Morse code. The other solution worked for big distances too. Assume it was night time, and a ship was sailing on the sea or on the ocean, fighting a huge storm. Back then, people had a lot of wooden ships, which couldn’t resist in front of a big storm’s power. So if there were people on the ground, 1-2 kilometers away from the ship location, they could have used a flashlight to guide the ship safely to the shore. The strong point of the flashlight Morse coding was that it worked even during daytime. Most commonly it was used to ask for help, if someone was in trouble during daytime. A lot of times there were people who had small boats, got themselves far away from the seashore, and didn’t know how to get back to the shore. It was terrifying, and people couldn’t afford themselves to “guess” where to go. So they waited until a ship came close enough to be on sight, and after that they used the flashlight, and were observed if lucky.

We use telephones and mobile phones to communicate. Telephones transmit electric signals over a complex telephone network. This technology allows almost anyone to communicate with almost anyone. The only problem is given by the fact that telephones can easily be eavesdropped. Eavesdroppers only need three things to perform the operation: a pickup device, a transmission link and a listening post. If someone has the above mentioned elements, it can become an eavesdropper. The pickup device is most commonly a microphone or a video camera. These devices can record sound or and video images later to be converted to electric signals. Also some listening devices can store information digitally and then send it to a listening post. The transmission link can be a wire or a radio transmission. A listening post allows monitoring, recording or retransmitting signals. It can be as close as the next room, or several blocks away. An eavesdropper just has to put a bug into your telephone, and it’s ready. Don’t get confused, it’s only a matter of seconds to install a bug. The above mentioned method is based on installing devices. Landlines can also be tapped anywhere between your telephone and the telephone company’s office. Anyway, the installer of the telephone tap needs physical access to the telephone cables. There are several methods to gain access. This second method is called tapping, which involves no device installing and needs no access to the victim’s telephone. You can protect yourself against eavesdropping by using telephone encrypting devices. Mobile phones are used by almost every second man on earth. It has all the functionality of a simple telephone, but it adds more services like: SMS, MMS, Email, Internet, Gaming and Bluetooth. Mobile phones automatically connect to GSM towers or satellites, regarding to which of them is more efficient in time and also available. Mobile phone signals can be picked up just as a backyard satellite dish pulls television signals in. To protect yourself against eavesdropping, you can acquire cell phone encrypting devices. Fortunately there are encrypting devices for both telephones and mobile phones.

Many kids like to invent new things and explore everything around them! Probably you know about some kids encrypting their messages or diaries like choosing a custom ABC. That is easy to do. You get an extreme character for each letter of the ABC, and only you and the ones who need to be able to read your messages know which symbol corresponds to which character.

Conclusion

We’ve seen a lot of different areas of where cryptography is used in our days or in the past. As a common man, you can easily observe cryptography everywhere around yourself! It’s so amazing how far science got, and it keeps going and going, getting a lot of new knowledge every day. Emails and Internet are used by more and more people every day. We just can’t imagine our lives without it. And all of these work and get secured based on cryptography.

Mobile 3-d Internet

sdnjang

All types of blogs, peer-2-peer audio and video communication via the Internet, e-commerce .... all of these no longer amaze anybody. The controversy around Web 2.0 or even Web 3.0 only confirms that the IT community is on the verge of changing from one Internet model to another, but nobody knows what kind of model is coming. Existing technologies, no matter how effective they are, are based on 10-20 years old ideas. Blogs for example were nothing more than personal diaries with a simplistic design, read only by people close to the writer. The latest features, including all kind of data aggregators like folksonomy, mashup, and widgets, ability to find pictures and, as Google promised, video - based on real content, not on descriptive textual tags - and an Internet browser being the only required application to work with an online virtual operating system [1] and on-line applications, perhaps that is all what we can expect in the nearest future.
At the same time, the recognizable trend of the Internet in recent years is a growing prevalence of video content, which is closely associated with technical progress, such as increasing bandwidth and continuously reducing cost of data storage. Real-time video broadcasting via the Internet, as did audio broadcasting some times ago, becomes less and less surprising, while the number of people who are using this opportunity is growing. Further development combines home-theatre and Internet systems, allowing users to order any movie on-line and in the future quite possibly develop a story by themselves.

Such evolutions of communication systems have had a direct impact on mobile systems. Mobile phones, smart phones, notebooks and game gadgets stepping on the heels of each other, and trying to wrest a piece of their rivals' or related systems' functionality. Continuing this trend it is quite possible to say that in the future all these devices will merge into one gadget, if not for one "but". Mobile devices show a particularly evident contradiction between usefulness and device dimensions. In order to be easier to use, the mobile device should as small as possible. As a result we are looking at a screen in the best case the size of a playing card and typing by means of 12 keys. A mobile phone is small. In turn, the notebook has a much bigger screen and a keyboard with 101 keys which is helpful to type blindly, but does not fit to the pocket. Engineers are trying to find a compromise solution creating pull-down, movable, twistable and other types of screens and keyboards, but they are not so convenient to use. Such contradictions may be formulated in the tradition of TRIZ [2] – "the system should be large enough to be easy to use, and should be sufficiently small to be easy to carry". At the first glance, this conflict cannot be resolved. Immediately, it comes to mind a screen folded as a newspaper that is being unfolded is either hard to read or hard to use, for example, a keyboard unfolded to roll over the knees or even sewed to trousers (there is even such patent [3]!) Hopefully, it is still possible to resolve such a conflict taking into account that the user needs an image itself, not just a means. That might lead to a small device that is projecting such an image to glasses' lens, or even directly to pupil. In this case the "screen" will became as large as a field of vision. Unlike a virtual reality helmet, such device is incredibly small in size. Furthermore, such compact devices already exist and are even available for the commercial use [4].

The same is happening with the keyboard. Readers can formulate the contradiction for the keyboard themselves. Instead of seeking the compromise between size and usability, it is possible to offer a crucial solution to the problem, namely a virtual keyboard. The device, worn on the wrist, tracks the movement of the fingers and the on-screen display shows where the fingers are now and what key is pressed or released. There are several solutions for that, the simplest one in the form of gloves [5], the other defined by the movement of muscles [6], or using the reflection of laser or sound beams [7]. It is important that hands in the case of the virtual keyboard remain free. For that reason, the mobile computer with a large screen and the keyboard with any number of keys, localizations and layouts may have the same size as mobile phones now. (If necessary, the central processing unit may be on a belt, in a bag, or even in a home wirelessly connected.)

For what other reason, except existing diversity of applications, could this individual mobile computer be used? Perhaps for 3-D broadcasting. Indeed, if our glasses' "monitor" can project separate images for each eye, it skyrockets the Internet to a new, hitherto unattainable level. 3-D movies, news, sport events and concerts – the user will be able to see them as if he directly participated in the event. Changes in software and hardware to provide this will be significant – new video codecs, further increase of bandwidth to provide the quality, editing and playback software.

As is often the case, many ideas seem to be science fiction and no one expect them to appear in the next hundred years. In the case of mobile devices, systems have not only come as ideas but have been already translated into actual devices, though they are not a single system yet. Possibly, the negotiation between separate device vendors and steps towards collaboration would benefit users, and be a new impetus in the development of mobile devices and the Internet.

Mobile Marketing Is The New Language Of Marketing

sdnjang

Mobile marketing is the newest marketing strategy which has become the most preferable and affordable marketing method for every kind of businessman. Even the newer business owners are also considering this way of marketing. There are lots of reasons behind this. It helps the marketing to a large degree. Not only this but also the cost factor and time factor is responsible for the increasing popularity of SMS marketing. If you have a mobile phone then you can understand this better. Everyday or nearly everyday you come across SMSs which promotes new products and other services sent to your mobile. Many free SMS portals like internet SMS sending sites gives advertises through message. But it is to be noted that without the consent of the customers the mobile providers and also the free messaging sites can not send the advertising. If you like them or better to say interested in them do the necessary, but if you do not want then to be saved delete them instantly. It is as simple as this.
Sms marketing is a very effective and cheap means of marketing strategy. With the help of the SMS marketing strategy you need not have to write the same message repeatedly. Rather all you need to do is to write it once and set the mobile numbers you want to deliver the message to and send it. And within a few moments your message would be delivered to the customer’s hand set. The most interesting feature of this method is its store and forward facility. With the help of this the message you send does not go straight to the customer’s hand set and therefore if the time you send the message, your customer is not within the range or if his cell is turned off then there is no chance of your message getting lost in the mid way. The message you send can wait in the SMSC server for days if necessary and would be delivered when your customer comes within the range or turns his mobile on.

Other than these technical facilities there are some other advantages of the SMS marketing strategy. On of them is that with the help of this method of marketing you need not disturb your customer at his busy time. As in case of telephonic conversation the customer sometimes gets irritated with the call as you can never know what your customer is doing when you are going to call him.

Apart from SMS marketing Bluetooth marketing is another tool for mobile marketing which can be used in the form of text, or video photos, coupons, calendar alarms, text, web links and more can be send to the customer’s mobile directly. But in this case it is important for the customer to be within the range of the transmitter and also it needs the customer’s permission. But along with that a lot more things and information can be send to the customer’s mobile if the transmitter gets the customer’s permission.

A Closer Look At Blackberry Pearl 3g

sdnjang

Blackberry phones have indeed galvanized the entire world with their perfect clubbing of technology and credibility. First developed at the turn of the century, Blackberry added its magical touch to the already existing categories of smartphones. While other cellular phones could only provide menial applications, Blackberry came up with the concept of Internet mobile telephony. That is, if you carried a Blackberry phone, you could access the Internet and communicate through E-mails! And all this too was accomplished at a time when mobile networks were still at a very nascent stage. This use of technology to empower the customers is precisely what helped Blackberry phones gain instant popularity and immense recognition- transcending national and international borders. Even today, these phones retain their differing qualities. In fact, they have only got better with time. And this betterment has resulted into the introduction of numerous series of smartphones which carry certain completeness and ease about them. Blackberry Pearl 3G is another such venture. Being a compact, small, stylish and powerful phone, Blackberry Pearl 3G, supports simple technical specifications and smooth functional operations. With its wireless connectivity and assisted GPS systems, the Pearl 3G has found a niche market in most countries. It is further available in two major types- Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 and Blackberry Pearl 3G 9105- which share essential commonalities but differ primarily in their structure. At this juncture, it is better to enumerate upon each of them individually.

Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100
This solid and pocketable smartphone is the newest addition to the Blackberry Pearl 3G family. Set with tight construction and design, the phone boasts of an extremely stable operating system. More so, it has the gained the credit of being the first Blackberry handset to inculcate Wi-Fi 802! This clearly means that one gets better Internet connectivity, higher download speed resulting into an ultimate browsing experience! Apart from these, Blackberry 9100 is instilled with other regular features like an optical track pad, a 3.2 Megapixel flash camera and an upgraded version of HVGA display. However, despite the best of characters which have been put into the phone, one finds that there is little, if any, gain from its Wi-Fi connection. Moreover, the newly installed optical track pad has been found to be very susceptible to sunlight- thereby, not producing the desired or claimed benefits.

Blackberry Pearl 3G 9105
The Blackberry 9105 is basically a unique phone with stylish looks and yet a traditional design. It possesses the regular processor speed of 624 MHz accompanied with a display screen of 2.2 inches and an auto-focus camera of 3.2 Megapixel. However, what is different about this smartphone is its conventional structure. This customary outlook is indeed pretty exclusive- especially when one comes to Blackberry handsets. Furthermore, the phone provides 5.5 hours of talk time and 30 hours of music playback! And all this features apart from the general characteristics of having a fully operational GPRS system.

Nevertheless, when one considers both- Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 and Blackberry Pearl 3G 9105- one is bound to get confused as to which one to choose. Both carry their share of highs and lows. However, many people make this distinction by the set colours available. The recent Blackberry Pearl 3G Pink has caught attention of the youngsters and is quickly going off the shelves. With Blackberry growing faster each day, not much time remains for it to be declared the premier mobile telephony firm.

Choosing A New Mobile Home Versus Choosing A Used One

sdnjang

Of course, the more appropriate question should be: Which is preferable?

Of course even though personal preference is important, quality is as well. Thus, when you’re deciding between a new mobile home and a used mobile home it’s important to do a load of research. Buyers should research manufacturers and the models being offered.

If looking at a used mobile home, they should hire an inspector to evaluate the condition of the home and to ensure it meets current regulations for mobile residences. It’s true that both new mobile homes and used mobile homes have advantages and disadvantages. In addition, each model and specific home will carry advantages and disadvantages themselves.

Think About It: Is A New Mobile Home Or Used Mobile Home Best For You?

* Affordability: Compare a new mobile home to a used one to see what the respective costs might be. New ones are going to cost more, especially since labor will be included in the construction in contrast to the used mobile homes already being built. Thus, a used mobile home will likely be more affordable in most cases.

* Manufacturers: When looking at a prospective home to buy, research the manufacturing company’s reputation. Do they have a questionable reputation or are they an industry leader? You won’t want to buy something made by someone who is not reputable.

* Is The Home In Good Condition: New mobile homes won’t require much of an inspection but if you are looking at a used mobile home you should defiantly have it professionally inspected. The inspector will look at all electric systems, the plumbing, the heating and the cooling, as well as other important components to ensure all is functional and safe for your use.

* Ask For Insurance Reports: Most sellers aren’t going to fill you in on all details of a home, so it’s important to ask for insurance reports so you can if anything major has occurred at a used mobile home. A new mobile home won’t require this step of the buying process, however.

* Stay Covered: If you want the best coverage possible, you likely want to go with a new mobile home because they come with a warranty that will cover most defects and problems. Often they are for a year or even more in some cases. A used mobile home will almost never come with a warranty, but sometimes an extended warranty can be purchased or written into the sale contract so ask if you’re interested in more coverage.

* Talk With The Experts: Before you officially decide whether a used mobile home or a new mobile home is best for you, be sure to talk to as many experts as you can. Start with the homeowner’s of a used mobile home you’re considering or manufacturing reps for a new mobile home you like. Then talk with a HUD representative to get technical feedback or legal insight. Lastly, consult an inspector to see what they think about the used mobile homes and new mobile homes you’re considering. When you gather as much information as you can, you’ll be able to make the best decision for you.

Mobile Mvno Predictions

sdnjang

The beginning of the New Year is the time for resolutions and predictions. Let me make some predictions on who will be the winners and losers in the prepaid cellular and MVNO arena for 2006.

I will start with the small prepaid MVNOs. Bad press is better than no press; that is at least what I heard. This will probably be my only mention of this list of companies.

Accell, Airvoice Wireless, Beyond Wireless, Extreme Mobile, EZ Link, iwireless, Graffiti Prepaid, PagePlus Prepaid, Omni Prepaid, O Mobile, MobilePCS, M3 Wireless, all either have weaknesses, obstacles, or just no reason for someone to buy their product. Some are in the process of changing from TDMA to GSM technology, others are under funded, others have high costs and others have poor marketing. I wish them well, but my prediction is you have not heard of most of the companies listed above and probably never will.

I have heard some good things about Callwave, Oxygen Mobile, and Liberty Wireless, but they are no longer competitive with the new rush of major players.

Bravo Cellular is small player that has an above average program that is very similar to the larger player, STi Mobile. Bravo and STI both use Sprint and offer competitive direct dial international rates. However, STI beats the Bravo rates, phones, and distribution by a good margin. Sorry Bravo Cellular, you are not good enough, but at least I gave you a paragraph.

I will jump from small to large MVNOs and prepaid programs.

STi mobile is a division of STi. STi is a major player in the prepaid calling card market with over $200 million annually in sales. STi mobile offers nice new LG Flip phones, aggressive rates, and extremely aggressive direct dial international rates. I would have considered them a medium MVNO program, but they stepped up to large with distribution agreements with Staples, CompUSA, and other chains. I predict success for STi.

Boost Mobile offers push to talk, excellent marketing, is owned by Sprint/Nextel and seems to want to be competitive with rates. I have heard they are not always in tune with their distribution and have some technical issues. However, they have 1.9 million subscribers so I predict continued success.

Tracfone and Net10 are the same company. They were the first successful MVNO with a distribution in the Wal-Mart chain. They have a large base of profitable customers and are aggressive marketers. However, they have always been boring to me. They made a major push with the Net10 brand, but it seems to me someone could have thought of a better 2nd brand. They even advertised on American Idol. They lack any hype or great offerings. This will be a good test to see if big distribution, a current profitable base, and aggressive marketing (even though off base) are enough. I predict success this year, but that is about it.

Virgin Mobile is the largest MVNO with over 3 million subscribers. While you can get a better deal and product from other carriers, they are already successful so I predict continued success.

The Cingular Prepaid Go Phone program offers really cheap phones, pretty good service, slightly high rates and invests a ton of money in marketing. I predict success because they can buy success.

The T-Mobile prepaid program offers decent phones, aggressive advertising, competitive rates, and has the backing of T-Mobile. They also have some loyal and satisfied customers. I predict continued success.

Up and Coming Prepaid Companies

ESPN Mobile and Disney Mobile are coming, but I have no information on their programs, so I decline to comment. However, I don’t understand why someone would buy a phone from them. I could see them providing content for other providers, but not function as stand alone MVNOs. They do have plenty of money to throw at this, so see what I know.

Ampd Mobile has a lot of money with $67 million or more in private funding and a $50 million investment from MTV. They were founded by Peter Adderton (I mention his name because he seems to like his name mentioned), also the founder of Boost Mobile. They claim they will offer revolutionary functions, service, and media from their phones, geared toward the youth market. I don’t have the guts to give them a thumbs down prediction, but they utilize Verizon, who has not been a great provider of service for MVNOs. Verizon also publicly has said they can develop their own youth-oriented marketing plans. It seems Ampd has it all, but if they do not have Verizon’s support and best deal, nothing else matters. I think they are exciting and entertaining so I wish them the best.

An interesting company is IDT. They are developing prepaid wifi cellular. IDT is a major international long distance carrier. Their plans in the future are to offer low international rates through cheap wifi mobile handsets. They also currently have a standard MNVO prepaid program called TuYo mobile. IDT has not revealed which wireless carrier’s network it is using to deliver the MNVO services, but has said its partnership is with a “major GSM wireless carrier,” which narrows the field to either Cingular Wireless or T-Mobile USA. Their TuYo mobile program is very similar to STI mobile in regards to service and international rates. It is only offered in four markets and they have started cautiously. I predict IDT will have success in a few years, but looks to be playing it safe this year.

For some reason, I am excited about Helio. It may be the $450 million in funding. It may be the technology of SK Telecom. It may be the CEO who also founded Earthlink.net and Boingo Wifi. I am most excited about what SK Telecom can bring to the table. They are the leading provider in Korea and are cutting edge with high end media offerings through great phones. They also seem to know marketing and pricing. It’s almost a perfect concept, except that I think Helio will be using Verizon as their back-bone provider. As I said with Ampd, it will be interesting to see if Verizon has changed and is now willing to give competitive support and rates to an MVNO. It is not whether they can do it….. it is whether they will do it.

I am a small business owner so I hate to predict the big guys beating the small guys, but it looks to me that enough big players in the prepaid MVNO market have their act together to make it tough for the small guys. However, small business owners should not be discouraged, because it is amazing how often major companies in any industry get tangled up in their own red tape, lose their focus and understanding of their customers and market, and let the small companies clean their clocks.

Mobile Mvno Predictions
